Arranging an assessment
Outpatient appointments are booked through the hospital on the numbers below; international patients can ask for Michael Yu. Bring photographs of your face from three and five years ago if you have them, because they show whether the mouth has changed and are more useful than any description. Bring a list of anything that has been injected, where and when, and be ready to say what you are comparing your mouth against.
What a good assessment includes
A statement of whether the lip was always thin or has thinned, and how that was decided. Measurements of the upper and lower lip, the width of the mouth, the length of the philtrum and the tooth show. An examination of the lip surface itself. A review of everything previously injected and when. An honest statement about whether the answer is treatment at all, and a clear account of what each proposed step would change and what it would not.
Asking about the plan
Ask which finding has been identified and how it was measured. Ask whether the plan is aimed at the lip or at the space above it, because those are different operations with different trade-offs. Ask how many stages are anticipated and what the stopping point is. Ask what the plan does not change, and ask specifically about anything unsuitable in pregnancy or breastfeeding.
Before you commit
No decision needs to be made at the first appointment, and no package should be sold before an assessment is complete. Take the plan away, read it against the guides on this site, and come back with questions. A discount that expires is information about the clinic rather than about your mouth.
